    INTRA-COMPANY TRANSFER WORK PERMIT

    The Intra Company Transferee policy permits international companies to temporarily transfer qualified employees to Canada for the purpose of improving management effectiveness, expanding Canadian exports, and enhancing the competitiveness of Canadian entities in overseas markets. This policy is developed pursuant to subsection 205(a) of the IRPR.
    Intra-Company Transferees May Apply For A Work Permit Under R205(A) If They Are Currently Employed By A Multi-National Company And They Are Seeking Entry To Work In A Parent, A Branch, A Subsidiary, Or An Affiliate Of That Enterprise.
    Foreign companies that are establishing or purchasing a subsidiary, branch or affiliate enterprise in Canada may transfer employees in an executive, senior managerial or specialized knowledge capacity to work in the Canadian enterprise under the intra-company transfer program.
    There are 3 main categories of employees that you can transfer:
    • Executive
    • Senior Managerial
    • Specialized Knowledge

    Executive

    You can transfer an executive under the Intra-Company Transfer program. He should direct the management of the organization or a major component or function of the organization. Should establish the goals and policies of the organization, component, or function.

    Senior Manager

    A senior manager is someone who manages the organization, a department, subdivision, function, or component of the organization. It is important that the senior manager was employed for at least one year in the last 3 years in the company’s office outside Canada.
